Acorns to Oaktrees: Goals and Objectives
A developmentally appropriate curriculum is planned to take into account the age span of the children within the group and is implemented with attention to the different needs, interests and developmental levels of the children. The developmentally appropriate curriculum provides for all areas of a child’s development: physical, emotional, social and cognitive.
Our programming is play-based, as we believe that children learn through play. Staff will make the most of their child development knowledge to identify the range of appropriate behavior, activities and the materials for a specific age group. They will develop and implement a weekly program with the needs of the children in mind.
Our Programing Is Built on the Belief That:
Children are active learners; in order to form a base of information about the world around them, they need opportunities to investigate and explore with objects, materials, and equipment.
Children need uninterrupted blocks of time to actively explore and develop their intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and language skills. Much of a child’s learning takes place when they can direct their own play activities. Learning takes place when children touch, manipulate, explore and experiment with things and interact with people. Children learn best when they can actively and playfully explore materials and activities, using all of their senses.
We provide families with progress reports on all of the children in our care. All staff is expected to contribute to the development of these reports.
