Courtenay

I have been working in the childcare field for over 11 years. During this time, I have had the opportunity to work with every age group. I currently work with the kindergarten aged children and OOSC children. I have my level 2 (child development worker) and have a background working with children and ASD. I am the mom of 1 wonderful little girl. I am originally from Cranbrook, British Columbia, but moved to Calgary 8 years ago to help further my career in childcare.

Melissa

I have been a childcare professional for 27 years. My career began in High River. I have lived in Calgary for 25 years and love the city life. In my downtime, I enjoy listening to music, reading, cooking, and shopping. I have always had a passion for working with children as they always make me laugh, give me a fresh perspective on life and keep my spirit young. I have 1 son who is 20 years old and the apple of my eye. I currently have my level 2 (child development worker).

Lila

I am originally from Algeria and came to Canada 25 years ago. I am married and have a son who is 24 years old. I have been working in the childcare field for over 17 years. I have previous experience working with children in Algeria prior to coming to Canada. I have also taught French at private schools in Calgary and Dubai. I presently have my level 1 (child development assistant) and only have a few courses left before I finish my level 2 (child development worker).

Mary

I am originally from Surrey, British Columbia. I have 2 daughters and 2 grandsons who used to attend Acorns. I started working in childcare when my daughters were young. But, I have always looked after children since I was a young girl myself. I love working with children and have worked part-time at this centre since 2014. I also have another job working with special needs adults. I currently hold my level 1 (child development assistant).

Laurel

I am originally from Jamaica. I have 2 daughters and 1 granddaughter who still live in Jamaica. I have my level 1 (child development assistant) and I’ve worked in childcare for the last 8 years and it has been my passion. I adore children and love making an impact on their lives. I enjoy watching children develop their own personalities and passions.
